Bénéteau wants to sell its Habitat division to focus on boating

The Bénéteau Group has announced the start of exclusive negotiations for the sale of all of its leisure housing activities. The transaction should enable it to accelerate its development in the marine sector beyond boat production, although it will significantly reduce the size of the Group.

Sale of the Housing business to Trigano

France's leading yachting company, the Bénéteau Group, has announced the start of exclusive negotiations to sell its leisure and outdoor housing business. The Vendée-based group is in discussions with the Trigano Group, a major player in the leisure vehicles and equipment sector, for the sale of its mobile home manufacturing activities through its subsidiary BIO Habitat, including the O'hara, IRM and Coco Sweet brands. The Trigano group would also take over all employees in France and Italy, and the current management team.

Refocusing and acceleration in the marine sector

Although Habitat, launched in 1994 within the Bénéteau Group, was not the core of its business, its sales in 2022 were more than 250 million euros, or 17% of the Group's overall sales. By selling its subsidiary, the Bénéteau Group says it wants to accelerate its development in the marine sector, both through construction and its nine brands of boats, the historical DNA of the business, but also in services, a line of diversification for several years. The operation would also enable it to invest more heavily in the ecological transition.

Bruno Thivoyon, General Manager of the Beneteau Group, sums it up as follows: "For Groupe Beneteau, this sale project would mark a major step forward. It would allow the Group to focus its development, innovations and continuous search for excellence, on the marine market, while pursuing its mission, "Bringing dreams to water": facilitating access to the marine world for the greatest number of people, through the creation of simple, innovative and sustainable living solutions."
