Hanse Group: A new president from outside the boating world

Hanjo Runde takes over the chairmanship of the HanseYacht Management Board

Leading German yachting company HanseYachts has overhauled its organisational structure and welcomes an executive from outside the yachting world to its new position as chairman of the board.

New management position at the boat builder HanseYachts

The HanseYachts Group, the German heavyweight yachting group that owns the Hanse, Dehler, Moody, Privilege, Fjord and Sealine brands of sailing and motor yachts, is expanding its organizational structure. The company, which employs more than 1,500 people in Germany, France and Poland, has created a new position of chairman of the management board. The incumbent, Hanjo Rude, will take up the position on 1 December 2021. He will "set a course for more growth and strengthen the team as the business expands its market position and increases its product lines," the German shipyard said.

An industrial experience outside the yachting industry

The 41-year-old new chairman of the HanseYachts management board does not come from the boating industry. Managing Director of kitchen manufacturer SieMatic since November 2019, he previously held management positions at 2 industrial companies, tool manufacturer Hilti and aircraft manufacturer Airbus.

Involvement of the shareholder Aurelius Group

With this appointment, the investment fund Aurelius Group, which holds a 79.53% stake in the company, is strengthening its commitment to the development of Hanse Group, which has been listed on the stock exchange since 2007. It emphasizes Hanjo Rude's international experience in Switzerland and the United States as an asset for the future development of the yacht manufacturer. While the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic could lead to new concentrations in the European boating industry, the German group seems to be organizing itself for an international strategy.
