Acquisition of Oceanair, the equipment manufacturer Dometic continues its growth

Oceanair blackout blind, now Dometic

The Dometic Group acquires the Oceanair awning brand. Another step forward in boating and a significant investment for the specialist in mobile housing, which already provides air conditioners or refrigerators for boats.

A recognized and international nautical specialist

Oceanair is a recognized market leader in blinds and blackout curtains for portholes and deck hatches. Very present in original equipment in yachting and yachting, the equipment manufacturer has a positive dynamic. Its turnover for the 2015/2016 financial year was £11.4m. The majority of Oceanair's production is in the United Kingdom, with an additional plant in the United States. The company, present in 32 countries, employs 200 people.

An important investment

Dometic's initial investment in Oceanair, finalised on 07 February 2017, amounts to £14m. An additional £2.5m is conditional on the achievement of performance targets within the next 16 months.

Strengthening Dometic in water sports

With the acquisition of Oceanair, Dometic strengthens its position in the nautical equipment sector. It was already strongly established there through the successive acquisition of brands such as Waeco, Cruisair, Marine Air or SeaLand, now all grouped under the name Dometic. Synergies between the group's brands are expected.

"Oceanair is a well-run company with a strong position in all sectors. In addition to strengthening Dometic's position in the boating market, we are also counting on commercial and engineering synergies," says Roger Johansson, President of Dometic.
