The Commercial Court of La Rochelle has approved the takeover of Neel Trimarans. The shipyard, which had been in receivership since December 2025, avoids liquidation. All that remains now is to rebuild a viable industrial model in a demanding segment.

The takeover of Neel Trimarans by a trio of entrepreneurs from La Rochelle opens a new phase for this shipyard specialized in cruising trimarans.

A local takeover with strong market knowledge

The first point concerns the profile of the buyers. Martin Volt, Maxime Védrenne and Martin Lepoutre are not new to the sector.

Their backgrounds cover production, distribution and site management. Maxime Védrenne is already familiar with the brand as a dealer. Martin Lepoutre brings industrial management experience with Fora Marine. Martin Volt, with an industrial background, completes the trio with a more technical and organizational approach.

The takeover is accompanied by an adjustment of ambitions. The project calls for production of around ten units per year. This choice marks a break with past objectives. It is more in line with the reality of the liveaboard trimaran market, which remains a narrow segment.

This approach aims to secure cash flow and limit the risks associated with ramping up too quickly, which is often a problem in the marine industry.

Partial job retention and skills continuity

Of the 57 employees, 46 positions have been retained. This will enable us to preserve some of our in-house know-how, particularly on technically specific units.

But downsizing also means reorganization. The ability to produce under good conditions will depend on the balance between workload and available resources.

Boosting production and replenishing order books

The site now needs to regain sales momentum. The order book is the immediate priority.

The announced presence at the International Multihull Show with several models is in line with this logic. The aim is to reassure the market and demonstrate the brand's continuity.

But in a tense economic climate, the decision to buy this type of unit is still a tough one.

An emblematic project in a demanding market

Neel Trimarans has built its identity around atypical multihulls, combining volume and performance. This uniqueness remains an asset, but is aimed at a specific clientele.

The takeover avoids the outright disappearance of the site, which is already a positive signal for the industry.

All that remains now is to confirm this over the long term. Between industrial adaptation, commercial repositioning and an uncertain economic context, the trajectory will depend on the new trio's ability to stay the course.
