Sunreef Yachts to open its first catamaran shipyard outside Poland

Polish luxury multihull specialist Sunreef Yachts is investing $27.2 million in its first site outside Europe. The acquisition is designed to meet growing international demand.

Sunreef Yachts sets up in the United Arab Emirates

Since its establishment in 2002 in Poland, Sunreef Yachts has grown and expanded its catamaran manufacturing facilities in Gdansk. The company, headed by Francis Lapp, is taking a new step forward with the future opening of a new facility in the United Arab Emirates, as he announced to the local daily The National. The first site outside Poland, it will be based in Ras Al-Khaimah.

An important investment

Sunreef Yachts is counting on a rapid growth of the Emirates site. It represents an investment of $27.2 million. Francis Lapp told the UAE daily that he hopes to increase the number of employees from 50 in the first year to 600 or even 800 within two or three years. Sunreef Yachts already employs over 1,000 people in Poland.

The catamarans produced in the United Arab Emirates will be from the same range as the motor yachts and catamarans built in Gdansk. In parallel, the Polish site also continues to expand in the large Baltic port.

A strategic relay for the Asian market

Sunreef Yachts' luxury catamaran market is particularly attractive to Asian and Indian clients. The location of the Ras Al-Khaimah shipyard will enable the brand to more easily serve this strategic market, where the Covid-19 pandemic has increased the appetite for yachting. It is also well positioned geographically to meet the demand from Australian and Oceania-wide boaters.
