Dometic acquires Enerdrive

The Swedish equipment manufacturer Dometic announced on May 18, 2021 the acquisition of the Australian company Enerdrive. The company is present on the Australian market and the entire Oceania-Pacific basin. It provides equipment for the fields of outdoor recreation, boating and camping of mobile energy systems. In particular, it markets solar panels, combined with batteries for energy storage and a range of chargers. The company, based in Brisbane, employs 45 people. Its sales for the year 2020 were around 28 million Australian dollars (approximately 18 million euros). Its aftermarket sales and service network includes 1,200 dealers. The transaction is expected to close by the end of the second quarter of 2021.

New step in diversification strategy towards aftermarket and energy

The acquisition of Enerdrive comes only a few weeks after the The acquisition of Valterra Products Dometic, an American company with a similar profile, albeit of greater size (550 employees and sales volume of $94 million). Dometic, whose importance in the original equipment market for the marine industry is significant, is seeking to strengthen its offer in the aftermarket and sales to pleasure boaters, in order to be less exposed to the cyclical nature of the market. In addition, the development of electric propulsion and the search for renewable energies on board boats are pushing the Swedish equipment manufacturer to strengthen its catalog in this sector.
