Chemins d'Oceans: Technic Marine Plaisance takes over after liquidation

Technic Marine Plaisance takes over the West Mediterranean activity of the Chemins d'Océans group

With the definitive disappearance of the Chemins d'Oceans group, former key dealer of the Bénéteau group, Technic Marine Plaisance is born. Yann Andres, founding partner of the new entity, explains to us the scope of the takeover and its objectives between sales of new boats, maintenance and fitting shops.

Birth of Technic Marine Plaisance

As the largest Bénéteau-Lagoon dealer at the time, the announcement of the receivership of the Chemins d'Océans Group had left its mark on the yachting industry when it was announced in November 2018. Faced with the situation, several activities were successively sold. The concessions on the Atlantic coast of Le Crouesty, Les Sables d'Olonne and Saint-Gilles Croix de Vie are spent in July 2019 in the escarcelle of the car dealer RCM a specialist in luxury cars. The Var shipyard of Le Lavandou, ex Massif Marine has been taken over by AGP Boats. The Lagoon catamarans dealer cards had been taken over by Nauticap in La Grande Motte and Euro-Voiles in Hyères. This left the shipyards in Martigues and La Grande Motte and the fitting shops in Sète, Martigues and La Grande Motte.

The court finally ordered the Chemins d'Océans group to be wound up, but the link between the different sites does not end there. Although the plan to take over the Grande Motte workshop and store as a SCOP was not finally accepted, the offer for the Technic Marine shipyard in Martigues, the Sète and Martigues stores and the Bénéteau concession card was validated by the court. "We have created a single company to make things as simple as possible," explains Yann Andres, director of the Technic Marine site in Martigues, who joined forces with Ann-Florence Bonnefoy and Frédéric Joly to create Technic Marine Plaisance.

Taking over staff, maintaining stores and setting up in Port Camargue

"We are taking over the 12 employees of the shipyard, the shops and the boat business and 2 new employees are planned for March", the manager is pleased to say. "The store in Sète will remain under the Accastillage Diffusion banner and the store in Martigues under the BigShip banner. For the sale of boats, we have the Bénéteau sail and motor card from Frontignan to the Côte Bleue and the Etang de Berre. Ann-Florence Bonnefoy, will leave La Grande-Motte for Port Camargue where she will set up in the Accastillage Diffusion store of SPI where she will bring the boat concession aspect."

Encouraging sales of 2020 boats and fittings

For the young company officially created on January 4, 2021, the first task is to secure the foundations. Despite the crisis, the year 2020 is reassuring for the partners of Technic Marine Plaisance. "We are going to consolidate our positions and get the company off to a good start. Technic Marine's financial year 2020 achieves 99% of the objective in the forecast presented 2 years ago during the recovery, counting 2 months of closure with the Covid. Today, the question for 2021 is more about the availability of boats leaving the factory. The real objectives are in 2022, for which we will have to position ourselves to have the boats, which is always difficult for a young company" concludes Yann Andres
