German builder Hanse Yachts withdraws from the Frankfurt stock exchange

Hanse Yachts Group, Germany's leading yacht builder, has announced the end of its listing on the Frankfurt market. According to Managing Director Hanjo Runde, this move is designed to improve the yard's profitability.

Hanse Yachts no longer listed in Frankfurt

On Friday, March 1, 2024, the Hanse Yachts Group announced its intention to delist from the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. The German yachting specialist, head of the Hanse, Dehler and Moody sailboat brands, and the Fjord, Sealine and Ryck powerboat brands, is terminating its listing in accordance with current procedures. The Aurelius Group, the main shareholder with 79.4% of the capital, is acquiring the remaining shares at the average share price over the last 6 months.

Increase profitability

For Hanjo Runde, Managing Director of Hanse Yachts, the Aurelius Group's decision is a vote of confidence in the German boatbuilder: "We are delighted by this mark of confidence from our majority shareholder Aurelius, and by the fact that this strong partnership with HanseYachts is to be further extended with the purchase of the floating shares. At the same time, we hope to save more than half a million euros a year by doing away with the stock market listing, and significantly relieve our administration of reporting obligations that do not contribute to HanseYachts' profitability. We can now invest the resources freed up by this step in the development of new boat models and thus in strengthening and expanding our market position."

In recent years, HanseYachts' status as a listed company has obliged it to make a number of delicate communications during the difficulties linked to Covid and deliveries. Reduced auditing and communication requirements are also likely to be sought in a difficult future context for the yachting sector, where shipyards will prefer to be less subject to market reactions.
