Fountaine-Pajot gets closer to Couach for its powerboat range

The MY4S from Fountaine-Pajot will be produced at Couach

The Fountaine-Pajot group will entrust the construction of its motor multihulls to the Couach shipyard. This is an industrial solution to meet the demand for catamarans from the shipyard in La Rochelle.

Fountaine-Pajot's MotorYachts range made at Couach

The Fountaine-Pajot Group has announced the signing of a subcontract with the Couach shipyard for the production of the power catamarans in its Motor Yachts range. The three powercat models MY4S, MY5 and MY6 will be built in the Gujan Mestras factory on the shores of the Arcachon basin. The contract is scheduled to start in October 2022 for delivery of the first boats in November 2022.

Freeing up space in the Fountaine-Pajot factories

Like the entire yachting industry, and in particular the multihull sector, Fountaine-Pajot is facing a high demand. It therefore wanted to free up space in its factories to meet orders for sailboats. The La Rochelle site will now concentrate on the production of large sailing catamarans, while the intermediate-sized multihull sailboats will continue to be produced at Aigrefeuille and the Dufour monohulls at their dedicated site in Périgny.

A know-how in motorboats and subcontracting

For the Couach shipyard, this type of subcontracting activity is not new. Indeed, the Gironde shipyard, which employs 250 people, is well known in the field of yachting and military ships. It often performs this type of service in the latter sector, building large quantities of small interceptor vessels under subcontract.

It is also leading the project to renew the SNSM's speedboats in partnership with Zodiac Nautic, with which the shipyard shares capital ties.
