Windelo : Expansion of premises and hiring in sight in Canet-en-Roussillon

With the launch of its second model, Windelo is moving up a gear. The objective: a catamaran launched every 2 months. The only thing left to do is to enlarge the premises and to reinforce the team to satisfy the customers.

At the end of March 2022, the Windelo shipyard based in Canet-en-Roussillon announces the launch of the second model in its range: the Windelo 54. After the Windelo 50 launched in 2020, the second boat in the shipyard measures 16.30 m.

2023 order book already full

This Windelo 54 is the second model of the range, but also the second boat released by this still young shipyard. Like its little brother, it is available in 3 versions ("Adventure" the most basic, "Yachting" for comfort and "Sport" for performance) with 2 pod plans (which modify the galley and the companionways in the starboard hull). Thus, there are 6 models of boats available for customers. Currently, an order is still possible for a delivery in 2022, but the 2023 deliveries are already all booked. Indeed, customers aware of the availability problems are booking their yachts earlier and earlier before their departure.

Increase production capacity

Today, the shipyard has 50 employees, but hopes to increase rapidly to 60. Indeed, the order book is filling up and Windelo aims at producing 1 boat every 2 months. To achieve this, the main production hall must be doubled, with an extension planned on the side and the back of the building.

For the future, the shipyard wants to remain in the niche of "high-performance, comfortable and ecological" catamarans. It plans to develop its range with a smaller model (under 50 feet) and a larger model (over 54 feet). Today, a study is well advanced on a 45-foot model, but the first contacts with prospects could well see the largest launched before the smallest
