Takacat sets up a French distribution network for its inflatable catamarans

Takacat inflatable catamarans now distributed by BTG Distribution

BTG Distribution has taken over the distribution of Takacat inflatable catamarans. Its manager Pierre Talon explains the reasons for this choice and the objectives for the brand on the French market.

BTG becomes distributor of Takacat in France

BTG Distribution is the new exclusive importer of the inflatable catamaran manufacturer Takacat. Big Toys Group, also distributor of various nautical products in France, such as Kart Nautique, Makara electric kayaks, Omo-jet e-foils or the anti-sinking system BRS (Boat Rescue System) has identified an opportunity to develop the New Zealand brand of inflatable boats on the French market. "We had been simple resellers in France for a few years and the boats were selling very well. We depend on the European distributor based in Germany. We are now going to set up a distribution network with retailers in physical stores throughout France," explains Pierre Talon, director of BTG Distribution.

Versatile inflatable catamarans

Takacat offers a range of inflatable catamarans from 2.40 meters to 4.60 meters long. Completely dismountable and inflatable, they focus on easy storage and access on board. Indeed, the boat can be used, at the yachtsman's choice, with or without transom, and closed or totally open at the front. Stored in 2 bags, the whole unit weighs between 20 and 55 kilos depending on the model chosen.

"The inflatable transom, unlike conventional plywood transoms, makes the boat very compact for storage. Our catamaran structure gives a lot of stability and with the opening on the front, the embarkation and disembarkation from the beach, a boat or the water are easy. An animal can get in without any external help. Another advantage is that the high-pressure inflated bottom, used alone with a fin, can be used as a stand-up paddle. We are already quite well known among fishermen, with rod holder options in particular. We also have a market in tenders, but with larger boats like the new 4.60 meter which can carry 8 people, while easily fitting into a car or motor home, we also reach people who travel" illustrates Pierre Talon
