Fire in the Cattolica factory of Ferretti

The high-end yacht builder Ferretti suffered a fire on January 10, 2022. The fire broke out on a 30-meter-long motor yacht, which was being finished and fitted out at the Cattolica site on the Adriatic coast. The factory, located about 20 kilometers from Rimini, in one of the cradles of the Italian yachting industry, is dedicated to the Custom Line brand. The 9,000 square meter buildings can accommodate about 15 motorboats between 20 and 30 meters.

A 30-meter yacht completely destroyed by fire

The consequences of the fire remain relatively under control, thanks to the quick intervention of local firefighters. There were no injuries. Only slight smoke intoxication is to be deplored. The yacht from which the fire started, worth about ten million euros, was completely destroyed by the flames. Fortunately, the flames did not spread to the other boats under construction in the hall, limiting the material consequences.

Details of the cause of the fire are not yet known. An investigation will have to determine the origin of the fire.

The Ferretti Group, Italy's No. 2 yacht manufacturer, owned by the Chinese Weichai Power Group since 2012, which heads the Wally, Ferretti, Pershing, Itama, Riva, CRN and Custom Line brands, has several plants in Italy. The consequences on the organization of production are not yet assessed, as the construction of motor units of this size requires many months of work.
