A massive rescue operation to contain the disaster

At around 2âeuros¯h45, the first calls went out for a major fire at Le Comptoir, located on Quai LouisâeurosAugusteâeurosTéphany. When firefighters arrived, they saw a generalized blaze: the roof had collapsed, and the interior was so ravaged that only the storefront remained. The 470âeuros¯m² building was completely consumed, requiring the intervention of 45 firefighters from eight different centers, including the île Longue marine fire department. The fire was only brought under control in the morning, at around 10âeuros¯h, to protect the technical hangars and boats moored nearby.
A local institution considered an essential link in the nautical industry
Le Comptoir de la Mer, well known to sailors, fishermen and yachtsmen on the Crozon peninsula, employed two people year-round, and up to seven in high season
Stocks of âeuros of nautical equipment, technical accessories and âeuros of gas bottles for boats were completely wiped out. Multiple explosions, linked to the gas cylinders stored on site, amplified the violence of the disaster and increased the risk of propagation to adjoining structures
Serious economic consequences and risks for the local business fabric
This disaster has deprived players already weakened by a very delicate yachting market of their logistical tools. The material damage is estimated to be very significant, and the fabric of VSEs contributing to nautical services, fishing and maintenance at sea has been put through a new ordeal.
