Perini Navi: 3 auctions to find a buyer for the Italian superyacht shipyard

Perini Navi taken over by The Italian Sea Group

The famous superyacht shipyard Perini Navi has finally found a buyer at the court, after 2 unsuccessful auction attempts.

The Italian Sea Group takes over Perini Navi

At the end of the 3rd auction since the shipyard's liquidation in January 2021, Perini Navi finally has a buyer. Through its subsidiary New Sail srl, The Italian Sea Group (TISG), a major player in the Italian yachting industry, has acquired the luxury sailboat and motoryacht builder. The Viareggio and La Spezia shipyards, the Pisa offices, the brands and patents, the shareholdings in the American subsidiary Perini Navi USA, as well as the boat under construction "Project 2369" have been awarded for an amount of 80 million euros. The transaction is financed by a combination of cash from the IPO in June 2021 and bank financing. Faced with TISG, the SanLorenzo-Ferretti consortium finally threw in the towel.

A development in sailing yachts

TISG, like Perini Navi, is located on the Tuscan-Ligurian coast between La Spezia and Viareggio and is mainly active in the field of large motor yachts. It has thus acquired a name and well-known brands in the sailing yacht sector. It also expands its operational capabilities to double the number of orders for refit boats and the possibility of acquiring new construction contracts for motor yachts between 90 and 130 meters.

In December 2021, TISG signed the construction of two 56-meter monohull ketches in addition to the 56-meter sailing catamaran, Art Explora currently under construction. Two of the boats being built at Perini had already been taken over for finishing by the NCA Refit division.
