Monaco Marine invests in the Vauban port in Antibes

Monaco Marine shipyard in Antibes to benefit from major works

Monaco Marine, the yacht refit and maintenance specialist, has announced a 6.5 million dollar investment in the port of Vauban in Antibes. Chantal Lemeteyer, secretary general of the shipyard, tells us more about this investment and the company's vocation in Antibes and more widely in the yachting industry.

Monaco Marine concessionaire in Port Vauban until 2042

Monaco Marine, founded in 1995 by Michel Ducros, runs 7 shipyards and 1 marina. Present on the Mediterranean coast, from Marseille to Monaco, it acquired the Tréhard shipyard in 2012, at the foot of the Antibes fort, where it maintains and transforms yachts up to 30-40 meters. Monaco Marine is the concessionaire of the Antibes port operator, Vauban 21, and has just seen its concession renewed for 20 years, until 2042. The new sub-delegation increases the yard's surface area from 8,000 m² to 12,000 m². It also includes the management of a 3,000 m² public careening area where boaters can carry out their work themselves or by any professional. "The public area will have dedicated staff. We have already demonstrated our ability to manage this type of area, by knowing how to recommend to users the right gestures and the right way of working, such as wearing a helmet and respecting the neighbors during work," emphasizes Chantal Lemeteyer, secretary general of Monaco Marine.

6,5 Meuros of investment for the travelift and the platform

Monaco Marine is planning major investments in the first few years of the new concession, amounting to 6.5 million euros over two years. "Our aim is to be operational by the end of 2023, as the work will require approval from the water authorities for the management of careening water. We are going to enlarge the dock to accommodate more boats, which have become larger over time. The new 300-ton elevator, as opposed to the current 200 tons, will enable us to lift boats up to 40 meters more comfortably," explains Chantal Lemeteyer.

Monaco Marine will also increase its electrical capacities for large yachts.

A generalist boating group

By taking over the management of the Antibes careening area, Monaco Marine is also refocusing its image, after extensive communication on the Marseille boat elevator project dedicated to superyachts over 100 meters. "Our vocation is to remain a generalist and not only to handle very large vessels. Monaco Marine deals with boats from 8 meters to over 100 meters, with the aim of offering everyone the appropriate service" concludes the shipyard's general secretary.
