Boston Whaler reopens Florida plant

In response to a significant increase in motorboat orders and historically low dealer inventories, the Brunswick Group announced major investments in its global production capacity. The Palm Coast, Florida plant, closed in 2018, will reopen. Dedicated to the Boston Whaler brand, the 21,000 sq. m. site will increase production capacity for its boat ranges by 40%.

Hiring in Portuguese and Mexican shipyards

For its other boat brands in America, Bayliner, Heyday, Sea Ray and Lund, the Brunswick Group will recruit 260 employees in Mexico. They will reinforce the Reynosa plant, whose capacity is due to increase by 58% over the next 18 months. It will be running for this purpose 7 days a week.

For the European market, Brunswick has a factory in Vila Nova Cerveira in Portugal. The site, which produces boats of the Bayliner, Uttern and Quicksilver brands for mainland boaters, will also be hiring. The goal of the American leader is to more than double production capacity by 2024.

"Investing in additional capacity in Florida, Mexico and Portugal allows us to rapidly increase production and continue our vertical integration as we continue to gain market share and attract new boaters," said Dave Foulkes, general manager of Brunswick Corporation. It also sends a positive signal about the confidence of a major player in the resurgence of boating after the economic crisis related to the coronavirus pandemic.
