Bénéteau's growth driven by sailboats in Q1 2023

The Bénéteau Group has presented its results for the first quarter of 2023. Significant growth figures, marked by the dynamism of the sailing segment and the American markets.

Strong growth for Bénéteau in Q1 2023

The Bénéteau Group has published its results for the first quarter of 2023. They are marked by strong growth compared with the same period in 2022. Indeed, overall sales are up 50.9% to 478.2 million euros. Growth in the Boat Division was even more significant, at 57.3% for revenues of 375.1 million euros. The Housing division, which the group announced on May 5 that it would sell to the Trigano group, posted growth of 31.4%.

Sailing up and better operational context

The sharp increase over the first quarter of 2022 was due to a variety of factors. Improved supply conditions enabled the manufacturer to deliver more boats. In addition, sailing, which saw the strongest growth at +81%, benefited from the return of normalized travel conditions, which boosted the ordering momentum of professional charter companies. Orders for rental fleets rose by 83% compared with Q1 2022.

Growth in the engine business was also significant, up 47%, spread evenly across the different boat segments.

The American market is proving to be dynamic, with the Bénéteau Group seeing sales increase by 67%.

Upward trend in 2023

In light of its performance in the first quarter of 2023, the Bénéteau Group has announced that it is revising its forecasts for fiscal 2023 upwards. It is forecasting annual sales for the Boat division of ?1,450 million, up 16%. The operating margin should reach 11%, i.e. an additional half a point.
