Opening up to pleasure boating
Through this limited series, Zeppelin - a manufacturer of semi-rigid boats made in France - is seeking to offer a boat designed for pleasure boating, as François Penlae, site manager, based in Lude, in the Sarthe region, explains.
"We realized that Zeppelin had a very good image on the custom-made and professional boat, but had more difficulty communicating on the possible adaptation to boating and family leisure. After careful consideration, we decided to offer a heart of the range boat for a family of four. This semi-rigid will be fully equipped and delivered "turnkey" This is an opportunity for us to attract customers to Zeppelin dealerships who are not used to coming to Zeppelin because the boats are too tailor-made."
A break with the tailor-made solution
Once the decision to launch a limited edition was made, it was necessary to find the right model, to offer the best possible price-quality ratio. Zeppelin therefore based its offer on the needs of a family of 4 people - 2 parents and 2 children - to design its offer.
"Once the idea of this limited edition was decided, we concentrated on getting the best price on this type of 6.10 m boat. We have worked a lot on the equipment needed for a family boat of 4 people. With this model, we totally break with the tailor-made approach, which is our way of working. If customers want a boat inspired by it, but with differences, we will then use our Zeppelin design methods. But it will no longer be limited edition and the price will be significantly different."
This is the first time that the French manufacturer, a specialist in tailor-made solutions, has developed a "turnkey" project. For the engine, Zeppelin has signed a partnership with Suzuki.
A mid-range product
To offer the best quality/price ratio in the range, Zeppelin chose the V20pro and the layout is fixed. However, two or three options may be added.
With this family model - the Zeppelin Vitamin - the manufacturer will now be able to offer a product with an attractive price compared to the competition, but with the recognized quality of Zeppelin. "Our boats are manufactured in France, in our factory in Lude (Sarthe) and the technical elements are the same as those of the rest of the range. These are proven equipment on which the colours have been changed. We have put in some rather high-end equipment and are careful not to move down to the lower end of the range. The proposed hull is the same as the one used by the SNSM or the fire brigade. We have only declined our experience from the professional world to the yachting world".
A limited edition
The Zeppelin Vitamine limited edition can be pre-ordered from July 2019 and sold at a price including VAT of 39?990 euros fully equipped (GPS, VHF, Fusion radio equipment, bolster, console, bench, inflatable sunbathing. The boat will be officially presented at the Grand Pavois show in La Rochelle next September.
