XO Boats

XO Boats will supply the media boats for the America's Cup 2017. A great success for the Scandinavian shipyard.

7 boats supplied

The Finnish yard XO Boats Oy has announced the signing of a contract with the America's Cup Event Authority (ACEA) for the supply of boats for the organisation of the race. XO Boats will deliver a total of 7 boats for the regattas between the flying catamarans to be held in Bermuda in the spring of 2017.

4 XO 270 Cabin will be made available to journalists as official media boats. An XO DFNDR will be used for Race Course Operations. A more luxurious XO 360 and XO Cruiser will transport the VIP guests invited by ACEA.

Design and robustness

Launched in 2009 in Finland, the XO Boats yard builds motor boats from 24 to 36 feet. The brand's open and cabin cruisers stand out by their sleek, sporty style and low on the water. But it is above all their aluminium hull that sets them apart from the competition. Robustness of structure and look are two essential elements for intensive use on a race like the America's Cup, which attracts crowds and large yachts.

Dan Colliander, CEO of XO Boats is delighted with the agreement. "We are honoured to have the opportunity to collaborate with the America's Cup and ACEA on the biggest sailing regatta. The competition for the oldest trophy in international sport is demanding and innovative, just as our clients, boat owners, see their XO Boat sailing experience."

"The America's Cup has a reputation for continuous innovation and pioneering design on a global level, and we feel that these values are also dear to XO Boats which places them at the heart of its boats," said Dan Barnett of the America's Cup.
