Highfield: The RIB Manufacturer Structures Its Line of Professional Boats

Highfield Boats has launched Highfield PRT, a division dedicated to professional and institutional users. The manufacturer has structured its product lineup around three boat series ranging from 3.8 to 11 meters. This move is intended to enable the company to expand its operations in patrol, rescue, and specialized maritime missions. Customization and technical support are two key elements of its market positioning.

Highfield is establishing a business unit that was previously part of its existing offerings

With the creation of Highfield PRT?which stands for Patrol, Rescue, and Tactical?Highfield Boats is taking a new step in its diversification. The manufacturer, primarily known for producing aluminum-hulled RIBs for recreational use, is establishing a division dedicated to boats designed for professional operators, government agencies, and the armed forces.

This initiative does not represent an entirely new entry into these markets. According to Highfield, the company has been supplying boats to emergency services, patrol units, and workboat operators for several years. Management notes that these projects have gradually grown in importance, justifying the establishment of a dedicated organization. However, no delivery volumes or revenue figures related to this activity have been disclosed.

The challenge now is to transform the business of supplying commercial boats into a distinct offering, complete with product lines, operational management, and related services. This change can make it easier to present products to institutional buyers, whose requirements differ from those of the recreational boating sector in terms of configuration, technical documentation, and equipment maintenance.

Julien Carussi, founder of Highfield Boats, has been appointed CEO of Highfield PRT. Stefanie Sun, who previously served as the manufacturer's supply chain manager, has been named director of operations for the new division.

This appointment underscores the importance placed on industrial and logistical organization. Professional projects may require special configurations, specific supplies, and coordination among the manufacturer, engine manufacturer, and equipment suppliers. However, Highfield has not specified whether PRT will have its own production facilities, dedicated engineering teams, or legal autonomy.

Three families to cover different maritime missions

The announced lineup includes thirteen models across three series: VIPER, RAPTOR, and SENTINEL. They differ based on their construction type, dimensions, and intended missions.

The VIPER family includes four inflatable boats ranging from 3.8 to 5.8 meters: the VPR380, VPR420, VPR470, and VPR580. It is designed for operations requiring easy transport and rapid launch, particularly for emergency services and certain military users.

RAPTOR comprises three professional RIBs: the RPT660, RPT760, and RPT860, with a stated length range of 6.6 to 8.7 meters. This line is designed specifically for maritime surveillance, rescue operations, fisheries enforcement, and operations involving other vessels.

Finally, SENTINEL offers five models, ranging from the SNT600 to the SNT1100, with advertised lengths from 6 to 11 meters. These RIBs are distinguished by their use of D-tube floats, which, according to the manufacturer, are available in inflatable or foam-filled versions.

The development of the Highfield PRT draws on the manufacturer's experience with aluminum hulls. Founded in 2011, Highfield Boats reports that it has a sales presence in more than 50 countries and industrial resources that it intends to leverage for its commercial operations.
