In modern boatbuilding, structural requirements are increasing. Foils, masts, stringers and other composite parts require higher stiffness and strength. At the same time, manufacturing becomes more complex.
In vacuum infusion, resin flow is a critical factor. The process must be well controlled to ensure full impregnation. Otherwise, dry spots may occur and affect part quality.
This is where reinforcement material design becomes critical.
Reliable infusion through optimized textile architecture
Steady Plus UD was developed to address exactly these challenges. It is designed for closed mold infusion processes such as vacuum infusion and RTM.

The unidirectional NCF improves resin flow while maintaining precise fiber alignment in the load direction. Its textile architecture enables faster and more even resin distribution, allowing consistent impregnation - even in laminate thicknesses up to 70 mm.
At the same time, the material is designed for practical use in production. It offers stable handling during cutting and lay-up, without fiber distortion or fraying. Its good drapability supports repeatable lay-up and high design freedom, especially in complex geometries and for demanding surface quality.
Proven in real marine applications
SAERTEX builds on long-standing experience with glass and carbon fiber reinforcements used in hulls, decks and structural components across the marine industry. Steady Plus UD is already used in marine composite parts where reliable infusion and high mechanical material properties are critical.

Typical examples include localized reinforcements in catamaran structures and highly loaded components such as foils. These parts are characterized by high laminate thickness and demanding load cases. Reliable infusion and consistent material performance are therefore essential - and this is where Steady Plus UD proves its value.
Your main advantages at a glance
For many boatbuilders, the key question is not just material selection - but process reliability.

- Suitable for laminate thicknesses up to 70 mm: Reliable processing even in demanding structures
- Optimized drapability allowing high design freedom: Easy to work with due to its textile architecture
- Up to 1.6x faster infusion: Improved and more reliable impregnation
- Reduction of resin consumption by up to 27%: Enabled by a high fiber volume content (around 60%)
- Increased strength of up to 15%: Improved tensile and compression properties compared to standard UD or woven fabrics
- Easy cutting and handling: High stability without fiber displacement or distortion during lay-up
The material is available in different configurations including glass and carbon fiber input, depending on your application requirements.
