But like all materials permanently exposed to sun, salt and mechanical stress, teak evolves over time. To preserve its appearance and durability, certain interventions are essential: regular maintenance of the wood, renovation of caulking joints and gluing of deck components.
With this in mind, Teakdecking Systems has for several years been developing a range of products dedicated to the installation, renovation and maintenance of teak decks.
Primerless caulking with SIS 440 putty
The caulking joints between the teak slats play an essential role. They absorb the wood's natural movements while ensuring the deck's watertight integrity.

The SIS 440 putty developed by Teakdecking Systems is commonly used for this purpose. Designed for marine environments, it offers elasticity to accompany the teak's movements, while resisting UV and outdoor conditions.
It also has the advantage of being able to be applied without primer, which simplifies application during caulking work. Joint renovation generally involves several steps, such as removing the old sealant with the joint hook, then preparing and sanding the surface before applying the new caulking with the sanding block.
The product is available in black, gray or white, to match different deck aesthetics.
Bonding laths with FFE-200 epoxy adhesive
Laying a teak deck is not just a matter of caulking. Fixing the battens is also an essential step, as they must withstand the mechanical stresses, temperature variations and constant humidity of the marine environment.

For this application, FFE-200 epoxy adhesive is used to bond teak slats to a variety of substrates, including polyester, aluminum, steel and composite structures.
In addition to its strong adhesion and resistance to mechanical stress, this type of epoxy adhesive also has the advantage of being able to be used to level the substrate prior to installation, thus correcting certain surface irregularities and preparing the deck prior to batten installation.
Cleaning and protecting teak

Teak decks should be cared for with products that effectively clean the wood without altering its fibers. Over-aggressive cleaning can accelerate wear and tear and weaken the surface.

For these operations, Teakdecking Systems offers two dedicated cleaners. ECO-100, a powder cleaner to be diluted in water, removes dirt and deposits that may accumulate on teak. ECO-300, a ready-to-use liquid cleaner, is used more for routine maintenance of teak decks and composite surfaces.

After cleaning, some owners also choose to apply a Teak Sealer, to limit soiling of the wood and slow down the natural graying process associated with exposure to sun and sea conditions. This type of protection preserves the appearance of teak for longer, while facilitating maintenance.
A complete approach to teak decking

From batten installation to caulking and wood maintenance, every step contributes to the durability of a teak deck. The products developed by Teakdecking Systems are in line with this logic: to offer solutions adapted to the various interventions, whether for installation, renovation or regular deck maintenance.
