Marsaudon Composites: 5 candidates for an expected takeover before the autumn trade fairs

The Lorient Commercial Court hearing suggests a swift end to the crisis for Marsaudon Composites, which has been in receivership since June 2023, as manager Damien Caillau explains.

5 candidates for Marsaudon Composites takeover

As provided for in the procedure, an interim economic and social review hearing was held at the Lorient Commercial Court at the end of August 2023 as part of the receivership proceedings for the Marsaudon Composites shipyard, which began in June. It also provided an opportunity to take stock of the bids for the takeover of the Lorient-based catamaran specialist. Damien Caillau, the company's current CEO, explains: "On this occasion, the administrator indicated that he had received 5 takeover bids, without the court having to take a position. The context is rather favorable, with 2 offers that are largely insufficient, one that is not far from being very good, and 2 that are excellent, retaining all employees, all boats, continuing with the brands and also bringing in work in parallel by relying on major international groups. So far, all doubts have been removed, and there are even people still interested in a potential takeover."

Although no names have been released at this stage, it is easy to imagine that various boating groups may have put themselves forward as candidates the desire expressed by Damien Caillau in our columns in June 2023 to join forces with a manufacturer in the sector seems about to be fulfilled.

Ensuring continuity from the Autumn shows onwards

For the current CEO, the timetable is on track, with the hearing scheduled to take place before the autumn trade shows, which he has already prepared with his teams: "We've organized everything to be present at the Cannes boat show with an ORC 57, even though we won't be in La Rochelle. The idea for the shipyard and the future buyer is to be able to send out strong messages, with the identity of the buyer, the fact that we're there and that the ORC brand is continuing."
