Breton superyacht specialist JFA Yachts is changing its shareholder structure to prepare for the future and the departure of its founders. An important step for a shipyard celebrating its 30th anniversary with ever larger boats.

4 new shareholders at JFA Yachts

Founded in 1993 by Frédéric Jaouen, the current Chairman, Frédéric Breuilly, his former Production Manager, and Brigitte Jaouen, Administrative and Financial Manager, JFA Yachts has made a name for itself in the production of superyachts. As the shipyard celebrates its 30th anniversary, the company is changing its shareholder structure. Brigitte Jaouen and Frédéric Breuilly have sold their shares, while 4 new shareholders have joined the capital. They are 3 long-standing employees: Gaël Douguet, sales manager, Vincent Balouin, technical director and head of the design office, Dominique Rouchon, project manager for interior fittings, supported by the BFR Investissements group, also shareholders in Marée Haute, the sailboat builder based in nearby Trégunc.

Anticipating the transfer of the company

With one of the original partners already retired, the founders wanted to anticipate the process of handing over JFA Yachts, giving themselves 5 to 7 years to complete the process, with the new shareholders set to become the majority shareholders. Frédéric Jaouen explains: "Rather than sell to the highest bidder, at the risk of weakening the shipyard, we decided to give long-standing employees with similar backgrounds and a real understanding of our business a chance in turn."

Continued development in Concarneau

In a controlled official communication, JFA Yachts also emphasizes its attachment to the port of Concarneau, where it has just invested once again in the acquisition of a hall dedicated to composites. The shipyard is currently building the largest vessel in its history, a 50-meter aluminum motoryacht. It intends to pursue this momentum with large yachts and catamarans, as well as with refits and its recent diversification into composite vessels.
