Winnebago, owner of Chris-Craft, invests in batteries

The industrialist Winnebago Industries has announced the acquisition of the lithium battery specialist Lithionics Battery. A strategic investment for the recreational vehicle group, which also owns the Chris-Craft and Barletta boat brands.

The American group Winnebago announced on March 27, 2023 the acquisition of the company Lithionics Battery. This supplier of lithium-ion batteries, founded in 2010 in Florida, supplies the special vehicles and recreational vehicles sector, based on its own BMS, called Never Die. The company joins Winnebago Industries, one of the leading recreational vehicle companies in North America and owner of the famous boat brands Chris-Craft and Barletta. The amount of the transaction was not disclosed.

Securing the electrical transition

Through this acquisition, the group intends to promote the transition of its various brands to electric motors. In the marine sector, Chris-Craft has already presented an electric dayboat model . Winnebago Industries CEO Michael Happe justifies this choice for the future: "The addition of Lithionics enhances Winnebago Industries' ability to develop unique and diverse battery solutions in our portfolio, advancing our global electrical ecosystem, driving our organic growth and supply chain security, strengthening our technological competitive advantage and enabling us to capitalize on our customers' preferences for immersive, off-grid outdoor experiences."
