Great yachting in La Ciotat : The exploitation of the Grande Forme is at stake

Grande Forme of La Ciotat

La Ciotat Shipyards has launched a new procedure to award the operation of the Grande Forme and related facilities. The outcome of this procedure should have a lasting impact on the large-scale yachting activity of the Bouches du Rhône port, with the duration of the concessions being revised upwards.

The exploitation of the Grande Forme of La Ciotat put back into play

The semi-public company La Ciotat Shipyards (LCS), in charge of the port site of the Mediterranean city, has opened a competitive bidding procedure for the exploitation of the large Radoub form and adjoining spaces, including the covered nave C and half of the nave B, as well as the spaces of the quayside. The total surface area is 38,000 m².

The occupancy agreement now held by MB92 La Ciotat, had been renewed in March 2019. It will expire on August 31, 2022. LCS therefore reopens the procedure. The duration of the new agreement should be between 15 and 20 years. It will be adapted according to the investments proposed by the candidate companies. The annual occupancy fee is set at ?1,450,000, plus a variable annual share of around 3% of the turnover of the occupant.

A sought-after tool in France for the Grande Plaisance

The Grande Forme of La Ciotat is a tool with a capacity that is rare in Europe and in France. Its length of 200 meters euros allows it to accommodate large yachts and superyachts for refit and maintenance work. After turbulent years following the award of the form in 2016 to Blohm+Voss which became MB92, to the detriment of the historical hexagonal companies, the concession had been confirmed in 2019. With a duration of 10 to 15 years, the new concession should open a stability on the site ciotaden which will also see the inauguration in 2022 of the boat elevator of 4,000 T also in management by MB92.

"This call for projects is an opportunity to open up new long-term prospects for both the future occupant and LCS and to develop major industrial synergies." says Philippe Vincensini, General Manager of LCS.
