The 2020 edition of Boat & Fun, the Berlin Boat Show, is cancelled. The postponement to autumn 2021 of the next show in the German capital underlines the fragility and reinforces concerns about the Düsseldorf Boat Show.

Berlin Boat&Fun cancellation

The organisers of Boat&Fun in Berlin have announced the cancellation of the 2020 edition of the German yachting event. The boat show in the German capital has been postponed to 2021. Despite the efforts of the teams, the sanitary conditions and the increase of Covid-19 contamination in the country led to this decision. "It is extremely disappointing not to be able to hold Boat&Fun Berlin 2020, but the lively nature of the event and the close exchanges between exhibitors and visitors cannot be achieved within the current restrictions," regrets Daniel Barkowski, head of the boat show. "The event would have developed strongly again this year. The level of bookings was excellent. But, given the situation, we can't function at our best and offer our exhibitors and visitors the quality event they are used to"

The Best of Boat Awards (BoB Awards), traditionally held on the occasion of Boat&Fun, is maintained in a different form, with a live broadcast.

Concerns for the Boot Düsseldorf

Europe's largest indoor boat show, the German Boat Show Düsseldorf, recently indicated that foreign visitors and exhibitors would benefit from the status of "traveller with good reason". However, changes in the health situation and the cancellation of Boat&Fun are causing concern about its holding. Among the yards and exhibitors contacted, some of them are already anticipating a cancellation, considering or having already cancelled their reservation at Boot Düsseldorf.
