Dassault Systèmes strengthens its position in the design software sector dedicated to the maritime sector by acquiring the Dutch company Aitac Bv. New automatic drawing solutions will be proposed.

Takeover of former partner Aitac

Dassault Systèmes has announced the signing of a definitive agreement to acquire the Dutch company Aitac BV. Publisher of engineering software specifically designed for the marine and offshore fields, the company, created in 2002, had been working in partnership with Dassault Systèmes for several years. Through this acquisition, Dassault Systèmes wishes to strengthen its leadership in the naval and nautical industries by adapting its industrial technologies to the specific needs of boat and ship design.

In the current assembly, Dassault Systèmes also acquires 40% of Aitac's naval and offshore engineering office in Croatia. Aitac d.o.o. provides engineering and naval architecture services for large shipyards.

Automatic drawing in"Designed for Sea"

"Designed for Sea" and"Optimized Production for Sea", Dassault Systèmes' maritime offerings will now integrate Aitac's Smart Drawings application. The latter makes it possible to automate the creation of drawings from the main 3D model of a ship. By using it with Dassault Systèmes' CATIA software, design clients can automatically create the necessary plans for certification. To do this, Smart Drawings relies on rules and templates that take into account local standards, behaviours and requirements specific to the naval sector. The goal for corporate customers is to optimize costs by getting the most out of global 3D modeling work and avoiding duplication of work on multiple files.
