Oceanvolt electric motors set up in the Mediterranean

Oceanvolt marine electric propulsion

The marine electric motor specialist Oceanvolt acquires a distributor in the south of France. A special alliance with a solar energy enthusiast.

New Oceanvolt distributor

Marine 41, based in Mandelieu (06), took over distribution of Oceanvolt electric motors in March 2017. Specialising in boat repairs, he became the Finnish brand's dealer for the south of France. It will offer the entire Oceanvolt range, including marine electric motor systems from 3 kW to 15 kW in saildrive and on shaft line, for pleasure and professional use. The engine manufacturer is currently working on higher powers.

The main objective of the new concessionaire is the development of an aftermarket in the refit of pleasure boats on the Mediterranean coast.

Solar sail and electric motors, a special alliance

The Marine 41 yard is managed by Alain Janet, who also heads the UK France sailmaker and Solar Cloth System, which integrates flexible solar panels into the sails of boats. The alliance was therefore natural for the company manager. "For me, it is a question of fully committing myself to the"new nautism". I know it will take a long time, but we have to start now. We had already worked with Oceanvolt on joint racing projects with Conrad Colman on the Vendée Globe and on production yachts like the J88 and an Arcona 38 Z yacht equipped with solar sails with Solar Cloth System technology. So we have the experience to work well together, in a coherent global approach."
