Avator 75e and 110e: More powerful electric outboards from Mercury

American motor manufacturer Mercury continues to expand its range of electric outboards, with the Avator 75e and 110e. An extension into higher-voltage power ranges has also been announced.

Arrival of the Avator 75th and 110th

Mercury continues to develop its range of low-power electric outboard motors, according to the plan announced in early 2023. Two new models complete the Avator range, the trade name for the Brunswick Group's electric motors. After the Avator 7.5e in January 2023, then the 20e and 35e in August, it's the turn of the 75e and 110e to be unveiled at CES in January 2024.

Despite appearances that could be misleading, these are still low-power models, and the figures in the name have to be divided by 10 to find out the power. The 75e delivers 7.5 kW and the 110e 11 kW. Remaining at low voltage, they will require external batteries like the 20e and 35e. Mercury has yet to disclose a specification sheet or price, with commercial launch expected in mid-2024. The first motors will nevertheless be on show at Boot Düsseldorf and the Miami Motor Show.

Towards high power

At the same time, Mercury is unveiling the next stage in the development of its electric strategy, with a focus on the highest horsepower ranges, as explained by its president John Buelow: "As we deliver on our commitment to launch five low-voltage electric outboard motors, we are also delighted to present a concept for a high-voltage electric propulsion system. This concept, along with our incredible internal combustion products that have redefined outboard performance, continues to position us as an innovation leader in the marine industry."
