Rehabilitating a well-known site in Marseille's port community is never a trivial matter. In the Saumaty district, the former ship repair workshops of the Louis Galli company are coming back to life, this time under the colors of IMS (International Motors Service) and Jet France, two well-known players in the marine propulsion sector. One specializes in marine combustion engines, the other in waterjet propulsion. Together, they are building a 1,000 m² production facility to serve both the professional and pleasure boat markets.
A site adapted to the constraints of marine engineering
The two companies move into a building equipped with an overhead travelling crane and an engine test bench, two essential pieces of equipment for efficient work on high-power blocks. The space also includes technical offices, a customer reception area and a stock of spare parts, ensuring local service and rapid repairs.
This type of installation is not common in Marseille, where the motor service sector is often fragmented. Relocating to a single site marks a desire to pool skills, logistical resources and customer service. This approach is consistent with the expectations of a market that is increasingly looking for a single point of contact.
A complete range of propulsion systems: from motors to waterjets
This is one of the challenges of this partnership: to offer an integrated propulsion chain, from the motor to the control system, via the reverser, the shaft line and the waterjet.
The brands represented by IMS and Jet France cover a broad spectrum of power ratings and applications: Nanni Diesel, MAN, Volvo Penta, Mercruiser for combustion engines, and Doen Waterjets for waterjet propulsion units. All this is complemented by a range of mechanical or electronic controls, depending on the needs of each project.
This technical synergy makes it possible to meet the needs of shipyards and operators who want a single point of contact for the complete motorization of a unit, saving time during the assembly, calibration and maintenance phases.
Fifteen people for an integrated service
With a team of some fifteen employees, IMS and Jet France are banking on an agile organization, capable of accompanying projects from diagnosis to installation, and then to maintenance. The objective is clear: to reduce lead times, ensure continuity of service, and support operators in their day-to-day operations.
