The Cap Innovation competition is back for the 2026 Paris Nautic Show. This year, you don?t have to be an exhibitor to submit an application. Products, services, and projects related to the ecological transition are eligible. Applications are open until October 30.

The Paris Nautic Show?s innovation competition is expanding its scope. For its 2026 edition, Cap Innovation will accept applications from companies and project leaders who do not necessarily have a booth at Le Bourget. This is a significant change from 2025, opening up the selection process to a wider range of nautical initiatives.

A contest that now extends beyond the exhibition hall's aisles

Cap Innovation was already in existence when the trade show returned in 2025. At that time, the competition was open only to exhibitors and recognized three types of projects: products, services, and environmental innovations. For 2026, the organizer is retaining this structure but changing one important requirement: it is no longer necessary to be an exhibitor to participate.

Automotive manufacturers, equipment suppliers, and engine manufacturers may submit an application, as may service companies, startups, associations, or other project initiators. The application is free of charge and must be submitted by October 30, 2026, at the latest.

This expansion gives the competition a different scope. A project that is still too new to justify a commercial presence at a trade show, a small organization, or a company whose boating-related business does not require the display of a boat or bulky equipment can now be considered for selection.

It also aligns with the positioning that the Paris Nautic Show aims to strengthen for its second edition in Le Bourget. M2 Organisation states that it intends to expand the event?s professional focus and give greater prominence to new uses, environmental transitions, and technical developments in the sector.

Three categories for innovations of very different kinds

The contest continues to feature three prizes.

The ?Innovative Product? category covers equipment or products that offer a new solution to a specific use or need in the boating industry. The definition is broad enough to include both the boat itself and its equipment, provided, of course, that the criteria detailed in the rules are met.

The "Innovative Service" category focuses on how the service is used. It may include solutions designed for professionals as well as those aimed directly at end users.

Finally, the third prize is dedicated to eco-friendly innovations. Projects must make a concrete contribution to the ecological transition or to reducing the environmental impacts associated with water sports.

The organizer also notes that innovation does not necessarily have to involve a technological breakthrough. A significant improvement to an existing product or service may also be submitted.

A selection ahead of the Paris Nautic Show

The announced timeline is tight. After the application deadline on October 30, the projects will be reviewed by a jury composed of boating industry professionals and specialized journalists. The press release states that the finalists will be announced on November 16, shortly before the Paris Nautic Show opens.

The selected projects must then be presented during the trade show. Finalists will also be highlighted in a special section in the aisles, as part of an ?Innovation Trail,? and will receive visibility in the event?s promotional materials.
