For several days, we traveled along the coast of Hebei Province, meeting the people who are shaping the boating industry in Northern China. This trip took us to marinas, sailing clubs, sailing schools, local institutions, and the Qinhuangdao Boat Show, organized in partnership with Grand Pavois Organisation.
Behind the recently built infrastructure lies a broader strategy. Fostering a culture of sailing, training a new generation of sailors, developing an economic sector, and promoting the coastline are the main drivers for a region with significant ambitions.
Throughout this feature, we will explore several key questions. Why does Qinhuangdao aim to become a leading center for water sports in Northern China? How is sailing being introduced as early as elementary school? What role do local governments and international partners play in this initiative? Finally, what lessons can European professionals learn from this rapidly developing market?
These topics all help us better understand a region where water sports are no longer limited to infrastructure development but are part of a long-term development strategy.
