BlueNav has added another award to its list of accolades. At the 2026 Cannes Yachting Festival, the Bordeaux-based company was recognized for its Smart Mooring system, which automatically keeps a boat close to the dock and assists the skipper during mooring maneuvers.
Automatically maintain the boat's position
Mooring maneuvers remain among the most challenging aspects of navigation, particularly with a small crew or when wind and current make it difficult to approach the dock. It is precisely to address this challenge that BlueNav developed Smart Mooring.
The system continuously analyzes wind, current, and swell conditions and relies on BlueNav's GPS Precision+ as well as the brand's electric motors. This allows the boat to automatically return to a previously saved GPS position and then maintain that position.
BlueNav claims a positioning accuracy of ±20 cm. The system automatically makes the necessary corrections to compensate for movements caused by external factors, without requiring constant input from the skipper.
A solution particularly well-suited for small crews
Smart Mooring is particularly useful when the skipper needs to leave the helm to secure or release the mooring lines. The system can then keep the boat close to the dock during this phase of the maneuver.
The positioning can also be adjusted from the BlueNav app. This allows the skipper to adjust the boat?s position from various locations on board, without necessarily having to remain at the helm.
For the Bordeaux-based manufacturer, the goal is as much to improve the precision of maneuvers as it is to reduce the stress associated with entering and leaving port.
Smart Navigation at the Heart of BlueNav's Strategy
Smart Mooring complements the various features developed by BlueNav for its electric propulsion system. In particular, the company offers a patented Virtual Anchor as well as the 360° Docking feature, which is also designed to facilitate maneuvering.
With BlueNav Control, the company is now looking to expand its Smart Navigation features to boats equipped with electric propulsion systems from other manufacturers.
This strategy therefore combines electric propulsion with navigation assistance software, with the goal of making the electric motor not just an alternative means of propulsion, but also a tool capable of facilitating certain phases of navigation.
A second award in 2026
The award received at Cannes is the second honor BlueNav has earned this year. The company had already won first prize at the 2026 AFBE Awards for its Virtual Anchor system.

With Smart Mooring, the company is continuing to develop automated solutions for boat maneuvering and positioning?an area that could become another selling point for electric hybrid technology in the recreational boating industry.
