Handling, hangars, dock: facilities for the future Saint-Malo nautical hub unveiled

In Saint-Malo, work is underway to transform the Duguay-Trouin nautical center. The renovation of the Quai de Terre-Neuve is part of a structuring project in line with the dynamics of the Malouin region's nautical industry.

A 25-ton elevator and a dock to accommodate ocean-going vessels.

The heart of the project lies in the creation of a lifting area designed for vessels of up to 40 tonnes. A 25-ton solar-powered electric hoist will be installed, complete with dismasting jib and integrated washing area. This facility was sorely lacking in the port's capacity to accommodate and maintain Class40, Imoca and Ocean Fifty yachts.

Modular workshops

In place of the former Sofrino refrigerated warehouse, two halls of over 400 m² each will be built. The 10-metre high ceilings will accommodate dry-racing units. Four 200 m² modular cells will be available for sailmaking, saddlery, deck fittings and on-board electronics.

With this ?10 million project, co-financed by the Region and Edeis, Saint-Malo aims to position itself as a permanent technical base for ocean racing projects. The challenge is to meet the expectations of technical teams, who until now have often been constrained by the lack of quayside facilities.

Delivery before the Route du Rhum 2026

Completion of the works is timed to coincide with the next Route du Rhum, scheduled for autumn 2026. Saint-Malo aims to be not only a prestigious departure port, but also a logistical and technical base ahead of the major departures. The upgraded infrastructure is therefore designed to offer a fluid, high-performance reception capacity for all the classes taking part.
