Elan signs exclusively with Yanmar

Slovenian sailboat manufacturer Elan has announced an exclusive agreement with marine engine manufacturer Yanmar. After 10 years of cooperation with local distributor Navela, the partners have decided to enter into a partnership to make Navela the sole supplier of diesel engines for Elan's boats.

John Deere invests in batteries for electric boats

Engine maker John Deere, which is active in agriculture, construction and marine, is taking a stake in battery manufacturer Kreisel Electric. The industrialist has taken the majority in the Austrian company founded in 2014. The latter is notably used by SAY electric boats and will equip the future E1 Series electric speedboats.

The Ferretti plant in Cattolica back to normal

Italian superyacht builder Ferretti has confirmed the normal resumption of operations at its Cattolica plant, following the fire on January 11, 2022 . "Less than three weeks after the shutdown caused by a fire on board a yacht under construction, the shipyard is ready for the first launch of the year, confirming its return to full capacity," Ferretti said in a statement.

Dates confirmed for Seatec 2022

The Seatec trade show has confirmed it will be held in 2022. The event will take place on March 17 and 18 in Carrara, alongside Compotec. It will bring together the actors of the yachting industry and large yachts from southern Europe.

New guide to the Yachting Directive

The European Commission has posted a new version of its Implementation Guide to Directive 2013/53 EU, the so-called Small Craft Directive, framing the CE marking of recreational craft. The text is available free of charge online and helps to understand the main regulatory requirements.
