Samboat becomes the flagship of Dream Yacht Charter agencies

The Samboat website takes direct control of the boat rental agencies Vents de Mer and LateSail. A reorganization within the Dream Yacht Charter group that Laurent Calando, founder of Samboat, explains to us.

Vents de Mer and LateSail under the Samboat banner

Boat rental and cruise sales agencies Vents de Mer and Latesail have been integrated into Samboat's business. Based in France and the United Kingdom, respectively, the two companies became subsidiaries of the charter platform in early December 2021. The two companies and their employees each have more than 20 years of experience in the industry. With their arrival, Samboat's global offer reaches a fleet of 45,000 boats for a business volume of 30 Meuros, while keeping each of the brands for the time being.

Create a unique agency pole within Dream Yacht Charter

Samboat, Vents de Mer and LateSail already had the same shareholder, as a member of the Dream Yacht Charter group, which was taken over in the summer of 2021 by a joint venture between the PPF fund and the Bénéteau group. Previously on the same plan, Samboat is taking the lead. "The idea is to bring everything together under the Samboat name to become the reference platform. Vents de Mer and LateSail have a recognized know-how and knowledge of the market and the yachtsman, but they were fishing on the Internet side, with sites that were a bit outdated. On our side, we reproached Samboat for its lack of expertise in booking cruises. From now on, while keeping the names for the moment, everything is grouped together with the same technology developed by Samboat" explains Laurent Calando, founder and manager of Samboat.

Taking the lead in boat travel agencies

Through this new organization, driven and supported by the new shareholders, the group is displaying significant ambitions. It has set very rapid growth targets to become the largest player in the boat rental industry by 2023, i.e. in two years. The business volume should increase from 30 to 100 Meuros over the period, i.e. a growth of more than 200%.

To reach these figures, the target market is international, from French and British bases. A recruitment of 25 people has been launched to meet the demands of boaters.
