Sunsail sets up in Martinique

Sunsail, a yacht charter specialist, opened a new base in Martinique on May 1. Located in the port of Le Marin, in the south of the island, it allows the company to strengthen its offer of sailing boats in the French islands, in a context of Covid-19 pandemic restricting international travel.

Side-Power will become Sleipner again

Norwegian equipment manufacturer Sleipner is reviewing its marketing choices. Its Side-Power brand, launched in the 1980s for its bow thruster offer, will disappear. The products will be marketed under the Sleipner name, for greater readability, in line with the rest of its boating range, including stabilizing fins, hydraulic steering and windlasses.

Cantieri di Pisa changes ownership

After a failed takeover bid by Tankoa Yachts, the historic motor yacht specialist Cantieri di Pisa finally has a new owner. The Monegasque Philippe Bacou, active in yacht charter, is selling the high-end boat building company to Alfagomma, a Lombardy industrialist. The amount of the transaction reported by the local press is 2.5 Meuros. The shipyard employs 20 people.

Tourism agreement for Breton marinas

The Association des Ports de Plaisance de Bretagne (APPB) has signed an agreement with the federation of Brittany's tourist offices (OTB) for the promotion of the territory to yachtsmen. Quality Tourism labeling of the ports and training of port agents on the tourist offer are on the agenda.

Nobiskrug under administration

Placed under administrative protection, the German superyacht shipyard Nobiskrug now has an administrator. PwC aims to find an investor by the end of June 2021.

Perini Navi's bankruptcy confirmed

The Court of Appeal of Florence has confirmed the bankruptcy of the superyacht shipyard Perini Navi, rejecting the current owner, the Tabacchi family, who challenged the decision. The process of appointing a buyer will continue. An alliance between the Ferretti group and the San Lorenzo shipyard is in the running.
