Special Edition / Plastiques de l'Estuaire : From roof glazing to boat tanks

Plastiques de l'Estuaire masters the forming of plexiglass

The company Plastiques de l'Estuaire offers a wide range of custom-made equipment for pleasure boats. Its founder, Thierry Dubois, tells us more about the range of products offered to boating professionals and the technical know-how of the company.

Plexiglas glazing for boats in all its forms

Plastiques de l'Estuaire does not only work for the yachting industry, but is also well known in the nautical industry for the manufacturing of several essential equipments on board. The production of custom-made Plexiglas windows is the first of these activities. "Our specialty is the manufacture of unique parts with complex geometries. We master the forming of Plexiglas and our new machining center allows us to produce our 3D tools and to further expand our capabilities. We work for Ultim, IMOCA or Multi50 teams, but also for refit yards or directly for private yachtsmen" explains Thierry Dubois, founder of the company, which now employs about ten people.

In addition to windshields and portholes, Plastiques de l'Estuaire works on all the transparent parts of the boat, such as sliding companionway panels or doors.

Tanks adapted to hull shapes

The other main activity in the nautical sector employs 2 to 3 people full time. It is the construction of polyethylene tanks. We work both for refit sites and private individuals on plans or according to the existing tank to be replaced. We also supply small series sites, such as Structure, Outremer or Gunboat with more and more technical shapes. All the tanks are entirely digitized for the manufacturing and benefit from test reports for the tracing and the quality" specifies Thierry Dubois.

Custom plastic fittings for turning

Plastiques de l'Estuaire also masters plastic turning. The company produces on demand turned parts in ertacetal, such as rudder rings, bearings or various wedges, often unavailable on the spare parts market.

With 14 years of experience since its foundation in 2003, the company has acquired a know-how that allows it to satisfy yachting professionals in a market of passion. "Plastiques de l'Estuaire has a nautical vocation because of its personal taste for sailing" concludes its founder.
