A project with strong symbolic and industrial value
MSC Cruises SA has announced the acquisition of SLAM.com SpA from the Vam Investments fund. This Italian company, founded in Genoa in 1979, has focused on technical textiles for sailing and yachting, with a strong presence in international regattas. The transaction, the amount of which remains confidential, is in line with MSC's commitment to promote Italian maritime excellence through brands that combine quality, performance and expertise.
A convergence of maritime cultures

MSC, headquartered in Geneva, underscores the commonalities that unite the two entities: a strong passion for the sea, a quest for constant innovation and a culture of excellence rooted in the marine world. SLAM retains its autonomy of development, capitalizing on the textile expertise acquired over more than forty years and on the dynamism of a global market in search of technicality and authenticity.
New markets, new uses
SLAM plans to continue investing in its dedicated sailing and yachting lines, while developing a new professional B2B division. The latter will focus on the design of garments and uniforms for MSC Group entities, reinforcing the industrial integration between technical clothing and cruising or freight activities. As a result, Slam's biggest customer will become its de facto sole shareholder, with the company hiring tens of thousands of staff worldwide.

A strategic acquisition for an expanding group
In addition to its fleet of container ships, MSC is also a major player in the cruise business via MSC Cruises and the premium Explora Journeys brand. The latter currently operates two ships (Explora I and II) and plans to add four more by 2028. Through this acquisition, the Group is suggesting possible synergies between performance textiles and high-end maritime hospitality, notably via the MSC Yacht Club offers, already available on 18 ships.
