Cotentin Nautic boosts capacity at Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue with new 54-ton travelift

The Cotentin Nautic shipyard in Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue (Manche) is modernizing its facilities with the arrival of a new 54-ton boat elevator. A major step forward to meet the growing needs of yachtsmen and professionals alike.

A tool to meet new expectations

In response to the changing size of pleasure craft and fishing boats, Cotentin Nautic has replaced its old 22.5-ton travel lift, in service since the 1980s, with a much more powerful model. " Today, boats regularly exceed 10 meters in length. We needed a tool capable of keeping up with this evolution" stresses David Traisnel.

Greater comfort for teams and users

The new Marine Travelift, 7.6 metres high and 8.65 metres wide, is designed to facilitate manoeuvring, so that yachtsmen don't have to dismast their boats to rig them. Technicians can operate it from a cabin or remotely by remote control. Winches, adjustments and straps are now fully hydraulic, simplifying day-to-day work.

Investment in the careening area

Alongside the acquisition of this second-hand boat lift, purchased for over ?200,000, Cotentin Nautic has invested in modernizing the careening area: new storage bays, securing vessels in the event of storms, and a clear objective of exceeding 300 cranings per year. With 35 work spaces, the company is strengthening its role within the port of Saint-Vaast.
