Contender joins Dimension-Polyant under the Sioen Industries umbrella

Textile group Sioen Industries acquires Contender Sailcloth and creates a division dedicated to sailcloth materials. By integrating this brand alongside Dimension-Polyant, Sioen brings together two industry benchmarks within Sioen Sailcloth Technologie, with one objective: to strengthen research and guarantee product continuity.

A global textile player structures its sailmaking division

Already owner of Dimension-Polyant, Sioen Industries announces the acquisition of Contender Sailcloth, a Dutch sailcloth manufacturer. The new entity, Sioen Sailcloth Technologies, will combine the strengths of both brands, while retaining their commercial independence.

Maintaining brands and distribution networks

Both brands, well known to European and international sailmakers, will continue to operate under their respective names. Their offices, sales networks and product ranges will be maintained, guaranteeing stability for end-users. Contender will remain accessible via its usual channels.

An industrial logic of complementarity

Contender and Dimension-Polyant each have recognized expertise in the design and manufacture of technical sailcloth. The merger will enable Sioen to optimize its research capabilities by combining expertise. The aim is to accelerate innovation cycles in composite materials, films and specific fibers.

Sioen Sailcloth Technologies plans to increase the budgets allocated to research into laminated materials, complex weaves and technical resins. This should enable us to develop products more rapidly that meet the requirements of regatta sailmakers, blue-water cruisers and large yachts.
