The Association des Ports de Plaisance Normands joins the Fédération Française des Ports de Plaisance. A further step towards national representation, which has already led to a number of joint projects, as detailed by FFPP General Delegate Guillaume Nardin.

Normandy ports join FFPP

In June 2023, the Fédération Française des Ports de Plaisance, or FFPP, officially and unanimously approved the membership of APPN, Association des Ports de Plaisance Normands. The regional union, which boasts some twenty affiliated ports, joins the ranks of the national structure, which now boasts over 450 affiliated ports in France. It will be represented at the FFPP by its president, Gildas Gautier.

Guillaume Nardin, General Delegate of the FFPP, emphasizes: "We count 473 maritime port structures and 556 river ports and nautical rest areas. Today, we represent over 90% of maritime marina managers."

Almost 100% of mainland France's coastline

With the addition of Normandy, the FFPP now covers almost the entire coastline of mainland France, in line with the objective set when the Atlantic and Brittany ports returned to the organization, and Michaël Quernez was elected President. Discussions are underway with the Pôle Métropolitain de la Côte d'Opale for the last missing region, the Hauts de France.

Work in progress for Normandy's ports

The FFPP and APPN have already been working for several months on important issues for Channel ports, as Guillaume Nardin concludes. "We have already begun work on the question of how to welcome yachtsmen from third countries, outside the Schengen area. This is an important issue for Normandy, particularly with English yachtsmen, who today have to pass through border crossings limited to a few ports. This is an important first issue."
