Boat Partners launches used boat hunter business

Used boat for sale

Finding a used boat can be time consuming. Inspired by apartment hunters, Philippe Tintignac, founder of Boat Partners, wants to bring a solution to boaters in search of their dream boat, but lacking time.

Find your boat while spending less time on it

When you are looking for a used boat, you have to spend time. Sometimes a lot of time, and a lot of miles. Not everyone can, or wants to. This is the observation of Philippe Tintignac, founder of Boat Partners. "At one point, I myself wanted to buy a used boat, and I ran into the difficulty. I live in Auxerre and sometimes I was moving for nothing. Today, there are brokers, but no support in the search and no real qualification of the need. That's why I wanted to import the concept of the apartment hunter into the boating world by creating Boat Partners."

A mandate to find the used boat

The procedure is relatively simple. The client defines his navigation project and his budget. Philippe illustrates: "He wants, for example, a 12-meter catamaran to go on a trip. We then start hunting, online and on the ground. We make a first selection that the client can see on their private space on Boat Partners, and they select the ones they want our network of partners to visit for them."

The client then receives a report, illustrated with photos, videos, 360° visit. Boat Partners insists: "This is not an expert opinion, but a technical report with raw, synthetic control points."

If desired, the client can then ask Boat Partners to negotiate on his behalf, with support until signature.

Different services

According to his expectations, the yachtsman can choose different types of mandates. In the case of a simple mandate, with a starting price of 350 euros excluding VAT, he can pursue his own research in parallel. In the case of a 6-month exclusivity, no advance payment is required. Each visit with a report is charged at 180 euros excluding VAT. In case of sale, a commission of 4 to 5% is taken by Boat Partners, depending on the type of mandate.

A network under construction

The young company started in June 2022. Established in the Atlantic, it is developing in the Mediterranean, in the North of Spain. For this, Philippe Tintignac is looking for partners on the coast. "We rely on retired people who are passionate about the sea or professionals in the boating industry who would do this as a side business. Each visit is remunerated and in case of a sale, the partner gets 40% of the commission."

In a tight used boat market, where reactivity is of prime importance, Boat Partners hopes to seduce many boaters in search of the ideal used boat.
