Outils Océans invests ?3 million in its industrial facilities

Outils Océans invests in a new plant for the equipment manufacturer Outils Océans

The specialist in textile storage, Outils Océans is moving. Tristan Poder, co-director of the company, explains the stakes of this investment and comes back on the activity of the equipment manufacturer in the nautical sector.

Outils Océans settles in the Forêt Fouesnant

Textile storage and accessory manufacturer Outils Océans will move in March 2021. The Finistère SME will leave Saint-Evarzec, on the outskirts of Quimper for La Forêt-Fouesnant, where it has had a 2400 m² building built. " It is an investment of 3 Meuros for the building and equipment. We were cramped in our current premises and we had to rent a warehouse for the storage of finished products. This will allow us to rationalise this and to have better working conditions for the staff. Today, we had to install modular buildings for some employees "says Tristan Poder, co-manager of the company.

Investments will also be made in handling equipment and a digital cutting machine. The company currently employs 30 people, including 15 in production. " Possible recruitment will depend on the evolution of the market, particularly in relation to Made In France. There is a trend among end consumers in France, but it is not always found among our customers in BtoB and abroad ", regrets Tristan Poder.

An almost normal year on the boating market

As its name reminds us, Outils Océans was founded for the equipment of pleasure and ocean racing boats. This historic sector today represents only 15% of the business, with the company supplying other markets such as mail bags, logistics, professional storage and custom-made textiles. Boating was relatively spared by the crisis in 2020 at Outils Océans. " The nautical activity is on the rise overall. 2020 has been an almost normal year. We work 50% with distributors and 50% with shipyards as original equipment. The summer season has been good for the distributors who sell to yachtsmen and 2020 has also been driven by ocean racing and the Vendée Globe effect on our customers ", says the leader. For the future, it is also counting on the advantages of its new production tool. " The new site will be interesting to manufacture small series, with a better production capacity and advantages for our construction site customers ", concludes Tristan Poder.
