The 60th Genoa Boat Show in figures

At its closing press conference, the organisers of the Genoa Boat Show, held from 1 to 6 October 2020, presented the main statistics of the 60th edition. During the 6 days, the show welcomed 71,168 visitors. While this is a source of satisfaction for the organisation in view of the health crisis and the difficulties of access for international visitors, it nevertheless represents a decrease of 62% compared to 2019, when the number of visitors had reached 188,404. 824 brands were represented, compared with 986 in 2019. More than 90% of the exhibition area of more than 200,000 m² was outdoors, a key element in times of pandemic.

The organizer of the Salone Nautico is also pleased with the media coverage of the show. Probably benefiting from its status as the 1st nautical event to be held in the autumn of 2020, it welcomed 820 accredited journalists, including 22 internationals from 20 countries, invited by the ICE agency.

Become the largest boat show in the world

After a drop in notoriety and a loss of ground, particularly in the face of the development of the Cannes Yachting Festival, the Salone Nautico wants to build on this successful edition in the face of adversity and the projects of work in progress to increase its influence. Marco Bucci, Mayor of Genoa, is committed to this goal. "It has been described as the show of courage and we have achieved it, we have shown the world that Genoa can stand together [...] Real sailors see each other when the sea is rough. For the Salone Nautico, we have an ambitious programme: with the 10-year agreement we have signed, we are working on the new basin, on the eastern seafront and on 400,000 square meters qualified to become the 1st boat show in the world."
