Sudden closure for a well-known player in the Var yachting industry
After fifteen years in business, the Chantier Naval Port-Fréjus (CNPF) has handed over its keys to the Société Publique Locale (SPL) Port Fréjus. This decision, imposed by the municipality of Fréjus, marks the end of a cycle marked by constant commitment to boaters and professionals in the sector.

The company, located in the heart of the port, had established itself as a local service provider: maintenance, repair, wintering and technical services. It employed twenty-five people and ensured sustained activity in a dynamic port basin.
A municipal decision denounced by the team
The shipyard's management claims an eviction without economic justification, in a context of administrative silence. The team, through a publication relayed on LinkedIn, denounces a political choice, unilateral and without consultation.
"It's not just a company that's being closed, it's a human story that's being interrupted", their message reads.
The terms used betray a feeling of abandonment, even injustice, on the part of employees and managers who say they are proud of the work they have accomplished, but bitter about the treatment they have received.
A direct impact on jobs and the local nautical fabric

This closure will result in the immediate loss of twenty-five jobs. It also weakens the local port ecosystem by eliminating a structure that trained, recruited and maintained close links with the region's shipyards and yachtsmen.
At a time when many ports are seeking to relocate skills and know-how, this disengagement raises questions about local authorities' port management strategy.
A changing port model in the background
Behind this closure lie tensions over the business models of both public and concession ports. The role of the Sociétés Publiques Locales (SPL) in the reorganization of port concessions remains unclear to service providers.
In the Fréjus case, no alternative was offered to the company, not even a partial resumption of activity or a supported transition.
