A manifesto signed by 9 electric boat associations

The structuring of the electric boat sector continues. After its launch in September 2023, the young International Electric Marine Association, IEMA, is beginning to reap the rewards of its actions to promote and stimulate the industry. It has announced the signing of a manifesto for greater collaboration in the development of electric boats by representatives of 9 national industries: Association Française pour le Bateau Electrique (AFBE), Electric Boat Association of America, Electric Boat Association of Canada, Norwegian Electric Boat Association (Norsk elbåtforening), Electric Boat Association of Greece, India Boat Association/India Eco Boat Association (IEBA), Swiss Association for Zero Emission Boats, Spanish Electric Boat Association (ANBE) and UK Electric Boat Association.

International lobbying

While the number of national associations is increasing as the electric boat market grows, particularly in the pleasure boating sector, the signatories explain that they intend to make joint efforts, particularly with political and standards authorities, to accelerate the adoption of electric propulsion on boats. The manifesto's key areas of focus are knowledge exchange, promoting awareness and education, promoting research and development, improving industry representation, and taking cultural and environmental considerations into account.

IEMA, created on the initiative of major manufacturers in the sector, such as Aqua superPower charging stations, X-Shore or Vita boats, or ePropulsion or Evoy engines, also strengthens its links with national associations through this manifesto.
