An international conference on antifouling paints

Industry professionals will meet again in 2023 in Gothenburg to discuss the future of antifouling. An international conference to reflect on the management of fouling, as propulsion and sailing methods evolve.

2nd edition of the International Antifouling Conference

After a successful first edition in 2022, the organizers of the International Antifouling Conference have decided to repeat the event in 2023. Hull coating specialists will meet in 2023, on September 13 and 14 at the Eriksberg shipyard in Gothenburg, Sweden. The event is organized by I-Tech AB, developer of biotechnology for antifouling coatings, Selektope and Research Institute of Sweden (RISE).

Presentations and reflections on the navigation of the future

Recognized professionals from universities and major industries will present the results of their work. The paint manufacturer Jotun, the shipowners Stolt Tankers, Hapag Loyd and the Florida Institute of Technology are already expected to participate. Applicants can submit their work to the committee until March 31, 2023.

Informal exchanges are also essential to progress in the field of antifouling. At a time of new electric propulsion or a return to sailing, even in the commercial field, limiting drag is essential. The problem is all the more difficult as the rise in average ocean temperatures tends to favor the development of fouling.
