Tip and Shaft Connect, a meeting place for competitive sailing professionals, will focus on CSR issues for its 6th edition on October 6, 2022. Environmental issues and the place of women in sailing, which go beyond competition, and are of interest to the yachting industry, as Pierre-Yves Lautrou explains.

Meetings reserved for professionals

After a long break due to the Covid-19 epidemic, our colleagues at Tip and Shaft are relaunching their Tip and Shaft Connect event on October 6, 2022. This day, dedicated this year to the issues of Social and Environmental Responsibility policies, and their place in competitive sailing, is held in Nantes, at the Titan. On the menu, an alternation of conferences, debates and workshops, interspersed with moments dedicated to direct exchanges and networking.

Pierre-Yves Lautrou explains the genesis of the project: "Tip and Shaft Connect was born out of the realization that there was no really dedicated business meeting for competitive sailing. That we needed to get together to talk in a place and on a specific date, not at the Nautic or at a race start, where everyone is too busy to talk properly."

Issues that affect the boating industry

For the 2022 edition, Tip and Shaft Connect is dedicated to Social and Environmental Responsibility or CSR. Speakers from the world of sailing, but also well beyond, from Airbus to the Professional Football League, will present their experiences and studies on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of boats, the reuse of carbon from the aeronautical industry or the place of women in sailing. So many subjects that go beyond the simple competition niche.

Its organizer sees the event as a means of bringing together and exchanging information, especially among the non-competitive yachting industry: "CSR is an issue that is on the rise in society, and strongly in competitive sailing. Many people are asking questions and some have solutions. Ocean racing is a laboratory for yachting and it is very likely that these developments will also happen in yachting. This is an opportunity for yachting professionals to come and share ideas and bring in industrial visions, to meet people. This kind of event: it's half content and half networking!"
